Basketball player Torri McCullough share inspiration for playing basketball from his older brother.

Aries Merritt has been running track since the age of 14; his inspiration for running track was
his sister because she also ran track here at Wheeler, he also said he was good at street running
and that if he was good at street running that he might also be good in track. Our principal Dr.Giles was a biology teacher before becoming a principal and taught Mr. Merritt, who always got A’s. In 2015 he found out mid-season that his kidneys were failing, and he needed a transplant but didn’t want
to because of the timing. When his sister found out, she went to get tested and was a match. He
then got the transplant. He then got a bronze medal in the Olympics.

Robert Tway has been playing golf since he was five years old. He didn’t have an inspiration for playing golf, only that he played all sports but gravitated toward golf.

Finally, Awtwuan Dixon shares his inspiration for playing basketball was because he lived in the neighborhood: “ I’ve been playing basketball since I was five years old,”
