Reality TV shows have been around for a while, and streaming services like Netflix and Hulu are leaders in watchers of these shows. Hulu has more streams due to its live tv extension, however, Netflix has been around longer and has loyal customers. Even though Netflix fell short of Hulu in quantity, it has broken through in reality TV in a major way this year with original hits like the dating competitions “Love is Blind” and “Too Hot to Handle.” The latter was the most popular reality series among Reelgood users from March 15 to May 31, when people practiced social distancing due to the coronavirus pandemic. The former ranked fourth during that time period. Hulu has not performed as well as Netflix, but still has an impressive collection of docuseries with 222 programs, according to Reelgood.
When asking Wheeler personnel which streaming service they prefer, the census relayed that people preferred Netflix over Hulu- with the exception of Dr. Carter- an English teacher here at Wheeler.
When asked why Dr. Carter prefers Hulu over Netflix, he responded, “They have Love Island UK and Love Island Australia.”
Those who responded Netflix did not really have an answer as to why they prefer Netflix. For example, Mr. Ward Wheeler’s Latin teacher said, “Netflix is better, because they are fye.”
