Three Terrifying Cases of Ed and Lorraine Warren

Authors, lecturers, and self-proclaimed demonologist, Ed, and Lorraine Warren were the most well known paranormal investigators in the world. Their real-life cases have inspired many sci-fi horror films today such as Amityville Horror, The Conjuring, The Conjuring 2, Annabelle, Annabelle 2, The Haunting in Connecticut, and The Haunted. Their research gave them a global platform to speak on. Therefore, people from all over the world reached out to the couple with mortifying tales of supernatural beings terrorizing them and their families. The following Warren cases caught the entire world’s attention.
The Trial of Arne Cheyenne Johnson
This case began when Ed and Lorraine Warren were asked to testify on behalf of Arne Cheyenne Johnson. He claimed that the devil made him murder his landlord while at dinner with a pocket knife. This case was the first recorded case in which the defendant argued the devil made them commit crimes, making this a landmark trial. Johnson pleaded not guilty to possession and based his plea on his fiance, Debbie’s brother, David.
In 1980 David woke up and saw what he described as “a man with big black eyes, a thin face with animal features and jagged teeth, pointed ears, horns, and hoofs.” David was so terrified of what he has seen that Debbie enlisted in Arne for help, with unexplainable bruises and scratches they both decided a priest was the best option to help David. Calling the priest allegedly only angered the entity more, so they called for Ed and Lorraine Warren to help.
When the Warrens arrived, Lorraine supposedly saw “a black misty form next to him which told me we were dealing with something of a negative nature. Soon the child was complaining that invisible hands were choking him—and there were red marks on him. He said that he had the feeling of being hit.” After having priest supposedly excises over 40 demons out of David, he allegedly returned to normal, but in this case, it wasn’t over quite yet. Arne believed that once the demons left Davids body that they entered his and forced him to kill his landlord while at dinner.
The Amityville Case
One of the more famous cases by Ed and Lorraine Warren, this case was adapted for film multiple times. On November 13, 1974, Ronald Feo Jr shot and killed his entire family and their dog. A year after, Kathy and George Lutz moved into the colonial style home with their children. The family lived in the house for a total of 28 days before they moved out in fear, swearing they would never return.
When the Lutzes moved in, they had a come in and bless the house. During the ceremony, he went into a bedroom and allegedly heard a very loud “GET OUT!”. The priest neglected to tell them what he heard but did tell them to leave that room vacant. The family reported hearing “antagonistic voices,” swarms of insects, members of the family levitating, and banging noises. Eventually, Ed and Lorraine Warren were called in to cleanse the house.
When they came, they brought a camera crew and began taking pictures. There was reportedly a picture of an apparition with glowing eyes. After much investigation, the Warrens believed the land had a curse on it. In an interview, Lorraine described what Amityville was like for her. “It was absolutely horrible. It followed us right straight across the country … I will never go in the Amityville house ever again.”
Annabelle Doll
This investigation all started at an antique shop when a father bought his daughter a Raggedy Anne Doll. The doll takes on a way more friendly persona in real life compared to the toy known as “Annabelle” in the films “Annabelle,” and “Annabelle: Creation.” The nursing student and her roommate started to notice strange things all relating back to the doll. The doll could allegedly change positions or rooms. The students reportedly began to see that the activity from the toy was escalating from minor movements to leaving notes, blood on the dolls dress and eventually violence.
One of the roommate’s fiance reported being frozen in bed as the doll crawled up and strangled him. The dolls behavior terrified the ladies, and as a result, they called a medium who said a seven-year-old girl who had died on the property inhabited Annabelle. Shortly after the medium’s session, the Warrens were called to investigate, and they concluded that a demonic entity was inhabiting the doll. The Warrens took the doll with them back to Connecticut and placed it in their museum called “The Warrens Connecticut Occult Museum.” You can still go visit the museum on certain days and see the “Annabelle” doll, but you are strongly advised not to touch it or be disrespectful towards the doll, as it allegedly causes peoples death. A man visiting the museum reportedly taunted the doll and tapped on the glass surrounding it.While he was leaving, he got in a motorcycle accident and died.
Whether these cases are genuine or not is up to the reader but either way, these stories are absolutely chilling.
