Cat’s Meow: Mr. Ward
Mr. Ward is the Latin teacher and swim coach at Wheeler high school. He’s been at Wheeler for 15 years and even attended high school here. Before being a Latin teacher, he taught social studies at a private school. Then, one day his high school Latin teacher called to tell him there was an opening for a Latin teacher at East Cobb Middle School, and he’s been teaching Latin ever since. Before coming to Wheeler for Latin, he taught at Campbell and Centennial.
In his high school years at Wheeler, Mr. Ward was on the swim team and was captain his senior year. When he came to Wheeler, he became assistant coach and stepped in as head coach in 2010.
“He’s funny, and he makes my day better by encouraging me through academics and everyday life,” says Maren Kissling (10). Maren, currently taking Latin 4, says his class is “entertaining and academically challenging, and I get excited about it.”
