Cats Meow: Mrs. Brown
Mrs. Brown is a computer science and math teacher at Wheeler High School. She’s taught at Wheeler for nine years and has loved every aspect of the job. Though Mrs. Brown has highlighted a particular part about leading that drives her to continue the profession:
“What I like about teaching is seeing students finally understand a topic that I am teaching them and have their ‘click’ moment. It also makes me incredibly happy if a student says that I positively affected their life by either introducing them to a new possible career path or just giving life advice.”
Mrs. Brown teaches Pre-Calculus, AP Computer Science Principles, and a brand new program titled Introduction to Python. Undertaking a new curriculum is rather tricky and worth much praise as Mrs. Brown is building the curriculum from the ground up herself. Colleague of Mrs. Brown, Magnet Advisor Sarah Kietzman Johnson, commented on the matter, “She is on an extended day this semester so she can teach a new computer class (Introduction to Python) because she saw the demand for that, and not everybody is willing to do that.”
Mrs. Brown has numerous qualities, making her one of the best teachers at Wheeler High. She is committed to her students and ensures they understand whatever they discuss. She will slow down and explain things if necessary, provide additional examples and explanations, and demonstrate the problem differently. In addition to allocating time to students, Mrs. Brown is very friendly with her class. She builds an environment where students enjoy learning through humorous bits and jokes. One of Mrs. Brown’s goals is to win Teacher of the Year at least once during her career, an award she greatly deserves.
In conclusion, Mrs. Brown is a beloved staff member at Wheeler High. She brings passion and joy to the classroom daily and has exhibited great dedication and love for her profession over nine years. Mrs. Brown, without a doubt, is a teacher deserving of recognition.
