Music Review: Swift
Taylor Swift announced on her Instagram Stories that she would be releasing four previously unreleased songs at midnight in celebration of The Eras Tour. The tracks include two re-recordings of her contributions to The Hunger Games soundtrack in 2012, “Eyes Open” and “Safe & Sound,” which feature Joy Williams and John Paul White. The other two songs are “If This Was a Movie (Taylor’s Version),” which was originally part of her Fearless album, and a new track called “All of the Girls You Loved Before,” which was never released on her Lover album.
The first two re-recordings are part of the Red album, which Taylor is currently finishing re-recording after a dispute over ownership of her original recordings. “If This Was a Movie” was originally released on her Fearless album, which she has already re-recorded and released as “Fearless (Taylor’s Version).” Fans were excited to hear the never-before-released “All of the Girls You Loved Before,” which was leaked recently, leading many to speculate that Taylor may have released it to regain control over how her fans consume her music.
Overall, fans of Taylor Swift were thrilled to hear these new tracks and see her take control of her music catalog. It remains to be seen if she will continue to re-record and release her previous albums, but for now, fans are eagerly anticipating what she has in store next.
