New Music: AJR

AJR is an American indie pop trio composed of three brothers, Jack, Ryan, and Adam Metzger. They produce songs using instruments such as vocals, keyboards, drums, guitars, etc. Over the past couple of years, AJR has produced four albums, with 10,790,470 million monthly listeners on Spotify. AJR is my favorite band, and I love all of their songs. Every single song is relatable and isn’t like the average pop song. My favorite song is “Burn the House Down,” though they have other popular songs like “Bang!,” “100 Bad Days,” “World’s Smallest Violin,” and “I’m Ready.” Recently, AJR released a new song on Friday, April 21.

“The Dumb Song” is, in my opinion, a really good song. Marley Hope (10) agrees: “It is a really good song. I really like how the tempo changes from fast to slow. I also really like how the singers sing in harmony.” For some songs, people listen to the beat, while with other songs, people listen to the lyrics. However, AJR songs give people everything to listen to. Especially with their newer music, they are telling a story of someone with self-doubt who is constantly called dumb by other people. I’ve never listened to an artist whose lyrics are relatable for most of their songs; that’s the best thing about AJR. I can relate to their songs.

Before the release of “The Dumb Song,” AJR had released two new songs months before: “The DJ is Crying For Help” and “I Won’t.” Due to this, they are in the process of making their fifth album, which I can’t wait for. I’m so excited for the new chapter of AJR and what’s to come. I love their songs so much, and I hope they continue to make music for years, as it has helped me and so many others.
