Jamal Holmes (12) is the lead editor of The Catalyst staff and a second-year Journalism student. Outside of school, he likes to go to the gym and watch movies. When asked to describe himself, he said, “Smart, funny, and black.”
Mrs. Comstock, who taught Jamal Honors American Literature and Journalism/Newspaper, comments on her favorite part about teaching him and what he brings to the classroom: “Once you crack through his hard exterior, you meet an engaging and bold personality. He can be a diligent student when he wants to put his best effort forth and complete his work. This year, Jamal serves as a lead editor on The Catalyst due to his ability to work hard and complete tasks he’s passionate about in writing.”
When asked to describe Jamal, Lily Francios (12), a third-year Journalism student and editor-in-chief for The Catalyst, says, “Jamal is a very opinionated, stubborn, and strong-willed person. He is someone that you want to get to know. He’s nice in his way.”
“Jamal is a very outgoing person, probably the most social individual in the class, just because he’s out here, he would probably say ‘keeping it real,’ but I’m gonna say he’s critiquing people,” said Cornelius Sonnier (12), a third-year Journalism student and public relations specialist. Both Lily and Cornelius have known Jamal since last year.
