Ray Furstein is one of our math teachers here at Wheeler High School. He teaches AP Calculus AB, Honors Geometry, Accelerated Geometry, and Algebra 2. Mr. Furstein went to Georgia Tech, transferred to Georgia State, and graduated. He got placed at Wheeler for student teaching, and one semester later, he was hired. Furstein’s motivation for education can be accredited to previous teachers. He says, “I had many teachers growing up that positively impacted me. I wanted to impact high school students, too.”
Many students have lovely things to say about Mr. Furstein. Marie Parker (10) had Mr. Furstein for Geometry last year. Parker mentioned, “He was easy to talk to and answered many questions. I loved the vibe in his class.” Rose Greenspan (11) says Mr. Furstein is “Good. I love that he is easy to talk to and understanding, and he explains his work thoroughly.”
Johnny Meneses (11) also had Mr.Furstein for geometry. Menenes said, “You can pass without doing the homework; just pass the tests, and you will be fine. Also, my favorite thing about his classroom is the couch. I always did work and tests on that couch. It helped me focus.” Menses added that Mr. Furstein is a teacher who cares about the students, not just about school; he is there to talk about other issues with his students and help them navigate difficult times.
Makalah Johnson (11) said, “Mr. Furstein is one of my favorite Wheeler staff; he is easy to talk to, never says no when you have a question, and walks around class talking and laughing with the kids. He wrote me a note to get into a class I wanted.” In conclusion, Mr. Furstein is a very beloved staff member amongst multiple students.
