The Wheeler cheer program recently got a new leader, Tiffany Haney. She coached JV football and basketball last season but had the opportunity to take over the program and stepped up to the occasion. She said that:
“It had been a lot of fun but also overwhelming at times. I want to ensure things are done right and orderly, but I want the cheerleaders to have fun. So, it’s tough to balance that sometimes. Also, there are a lot of tasks that are constantly having to be done that people don’t think about, so I feel like there Is always something to do. I want to continue to fundraise so the girls can get new uniforms. I also want to continue improving things like stunting, performing during halftime, and getting more involved in the community. I’m not sure how it was before I got here last year, But last year, it felt a little unorganized, and it seemed there was not a lot of structure or rules.”
Alexis Mason (11) said she loves her spirit and passion for the program; she is always hyping the cheerleaders up and helping them cheer for the football team. Lenzye Joseph (12) said she is doing a fantastic job coaching; she keeps everything in place. Julia Addison (11) noted that Coach Haney is improving this program. She is getting the cheerleaders involved in stuff. For example, the Wheeler Cheerleaders walked the East Cobb parade two weeks ago. They are also helping coach the elementary school cheerleaders. Addison said she cares about our progress, wants them to stunt, and is very hands-on. Erin Dallas (11) said she is making us more involved than last year; the program is more organized than last year. Even with the program not being in the best place when she arrived, she took it.
