On September 28, Mr. Madison Argo passed away unexpectedly at the age of 32. It is unclear how he died. He had recently begun his second year as our band director. According to an online obituary, Mr. Argo was described as “exuberant, energetic, and passionate about everything he did. [His] impact on the band world was immense, and the community mourns the loss of such a champion for music.”
His students would describe him as caring, hardworking, and a leader. One tenth grade student shared when he first heard the news that it didn’t really settle in his brain. He thought it was a joke, but when he found out that it was true, he began to feel sad and emotional. His relationship with Mr. Argo was kind of rocky. He stated that Mr Argo used to yell at him a little bit much because he would be unfocused and would be acting a little out of tune sometimes.
One ninth grade student shared that he was out grocery shopping with his parents when he heard the news of Mr. Argo’s passing, stated that Mr Argos death didn’t impact him until it settled in because he didn’t believe that one of his teachers was actually dead. He said that things like this only happen in movies, but this was real life.
Another ninth grade student described him as more than just a teacher to him but as a mentor because Mr. Argo didn’t just help him inside of the classroom but also outside of the classroom in the real world.
Students of Mr. Argo stated that Mr. Argo taught them how to be consistent with a lot of valuable lessons that they can use later on down the road. They enjoyed his goofiness, personality and sense of humor. Everyone enjoyed Mr. Argo’s presence, joy, and company while he was here.
Mr Argo’s passing had a huge impact on the school and the band community as a whole. Prayers to Mr. Argo’s friends, family, colleagues, and students. Always appreciate someone while they’re here before they’re gone.
