This Month is spooky Month. Trick or Treating, Costumes, Scares, Haunted Houses, and especially Halloween Movies. This year, we will examine people’s opinions on the Best Halloween Movie. Halloween movies have stood the test of time, bringing the family together during this spooky season. To send creepy and chilling thrills down your spine with your favorite movies, get ready, grab your popcorn, turn off your lights, and get ready to enjoy this spooky scare of the enchanting Halloween movies.
For this Fall season, many people at Wheeler High School (Home of the Wildcats!) debated the best Halloween Movie. From the OG Classical Horror Movies like Halloween (1978), The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993), and Friday the 13th (1980). And New Horror Classical Movies such as Scream (2022), The Exorcist: Believer (2022), and the Nun (2022).
For the interviews, Staff and students at Wheeler High School (Home of the Wildcats!) were interviewed about the 6 Halloween Movies on the list provided above. These were the questions asked to those people. #1 Are you a Classical or New Horror Fan? #2 What Halloween movie would you be in? #3 What’s the best Halloween Movie? #4 If you had to remove one of the six movies, which one would it be? #5 If you could recreate one of the six movies, which one would it be? And last but not least, #6 Which is more prevalent, Classical Horror or New Horror? These were the questions asked to the Staff and students at Wheeler High, and this was their response.
A summary of several interviews includes students and teachers at Wheeler High School discussing their opinions on the horror movie genre and their experiences with different horror movies. One student, Ashley Njau, in the 11th Grade, answered Question #1. She favors classical horrors because, quoting from her, “When it comes to classics, it can never die down plus, classics are much scarier than New Horror and have a longer longevity.” While another student, Keyon Smith, answered Question #2, Keyon chose Scream (2022) because he stated, “The reason being I chose Scream was mostly due to the decision of that I would survive Scream, why you may ask, because I’m not stupid.” Student Ysack Souza, also in the 11th Grade, answered question #3. Ysack chose Friday the 13th because, quoting from him, “I chose Friday the 13th because it’s the only one I’ve watched, the only one I remembered, and it’s the most memorable movie to myself”. Student Sahara Bryant, who is in the 11th Grade, answered question #4. Sahara chose The Exorcist: Believer and found it to be quite disappointing, quoting her, “I’ve watched the movie before, and it wasn’t as enticing or as scary, shown and produced in the trailer, it was genuinely a waste of my money.” Furthermore, A teacher at Wheeler High School, Ms. Haney, also gave her opinion and answered question #5. Ms. Haney chose Scream. When asked why, she said, and I quote from her, “I’m quite an athletic person, and I’m an intelligent woman. Scream to me isn’t as scary as many people say it is, so there isn’t nothing to be scared about when you really think about it”. Lastly, 10th-grade student Makayla Thomas answered question #6, stating they chose Classical Horror Movies. The reason is, and quoting from them, “Classical Horror movies are much better than New Horror, mostly because New Horror doesn’t stay entrapped in your mind and Classical have a certain nostalgia that pertains to it, unlike New Horror movies.”
