As the days pass, May 27 starts getting closer and closer. Seniors graduate and move on to the next step of their life. As it gets closer, Seniors must begin preparing to make it there. Graduation will be held at Kennesaw State University in Marietta at 7 pm. Ticket requests are available on the Student Portal until February 29. In May, there’s a mandatory Graduation Practice to be able to walk the stage and graduate.
Seniors can prepare to graduate in a multitude of ways. They can keep up with their studies, ensuring they pass and have taken all the required classes to graduate. Talk to the counselors’ to see where they might need help. Count on friends and get organized and timely for when the senioritis starts to come in full force. Seniors can ensure that all required forms are taken care of and attend the Graduation Practice. Seniors can hang out with friends while applying to colleges or for jobs. Beforehand, seniors can ensure they eat breakfast and get a good night’s sleep. They can prepare plans on what to do after graduation at KSU, plan parties, or find a place to eat and celebrate.
Cornelius Sonnier Jr. (12) said, “I am prepared and looking forward to when I graduate from KSU, which I plan on going straight into when I graduate. This school is entertaining and diverse and has many different stories and experiences. It has so many good teachers like Dr. Ice, Mrs. Massey, and Mrs. Comstock, so I’ll miss that.”
Garrett Guthrie (Senior) also had to say, “I’ve filled out all the required forms to graduate, so all I have left is to finish the rest of my required classes, but I am mentally prepared. When I graduate, I plan on attending college out of state. I feel mixed about leaving Wheeler High School. I’ll miss some people, but I am not leaving an impact when I leave.”
Ashlyn Ferguson (Senior) said, “I’ve prepared for graduation by applying to college and buying the gowns for graduation; mentally, I’m prepared as I think I can be. I plan on doing a lot of college and going to a med school after I graduate high school.”
Mark Collins (Graduation Coach and Mentorship Leader) advised, “Ways Seniors can prepare is to make sure they are aware of their emails as important information is being sent through email, and they can either talk to me or the counselors to make sure they are on the right track to graduation. I would advise having a good year and finishing strong so they are good for college.”
All students of Wheeler High School will have a last day of high school, an earlier last day of high school, and they’ll eventually have the last time they’ll walk through the doors of this school as the high school days turn into high school memories. It’s best to be prepared for when graduation comes around, and they have to go out in the real world. The day of graduation is May 21. There are still months away before the last day of school and graduation. Seniors still have time to prepare for that. Study hard, fill out the required forms, and have fun. The next step in life may be going to college, getting a full-time job, or a bit of both, but graduation is the first step, and it’s best to be prepared until it comes.
