Two more months left until we say our final goodbyes to friends, teachers and staff here at Wheeler High School as the last day of school and graduation is coming. Although it seems sad enough as the last day of school is near and our seniors are graduating, we also have good memories here in this school and that good memory is the 2023-2024 yearbook here at Wheeler.
Aish Togo, a student at the Wheeler yearbook class agreed to be interviewed, Aish stated that the rules of the yearbook class are asking teachers permission especially taking pictures, Aish learned many good techniques of taking many pictures and she also learned how to use the camera pretty good as well, she also said that the year book class is a fun class, the only reason she joined the yearbook team is that because she thought it was the Journalism class but instead it was the yearbook class which it didn’t mind her at all.
Mia Lock, another member of the yearbook team agreed as well to be interviewed, Mia said that the only procedure when taking pictures is to be respectful especially when taking pictures and always ask the teachers or anyone else for their permission, Mia learned a lot of good techniques when taking pictures including lighting and different positions when taking pictures, she also stated that the yearbook theme is retro, in the end, Mia recommended people that likes creating stuff and taking pictures to join the yearbook club!
Another member, Anna Lukus, also agreed to be interviewed, Anna said that she sometimes takes pictures but mostly she edits and designs the yearbook which basically Anna is an editor, she also said that a full page is fully done in a week as she said “Normally it takes a week, taking pictures and interviewing them takes time.” Anna recommends people to join stating “Yes, absolutely, it’s a fun class, you meet new people, and you create good ideas, always be respectful, having a pass when leaving the classroom and just introducing yourself.”
Ms. Mckinley, the teacher of the yearbook class agreed to be interviewed, in the interview, Ms. Mckinely said that in the fall, there is a photograph bootcamp to teach and train students how to edit, design, and take pictures for the yearbook, she also stated that the students have a grading Rubric when finishing the pictures, a member of the class checks it and tells the student taking the pictures if its good or bad. If it’s bad, the students retakes the pictures again
Ms. Mckinley stated that she takes pictures in time, she also gave an update on the yearbooks saying “The yearbook is 90 dollars, at the time there were 30 yearbooks left (now 25) and the books arrive usually in the first week of May”, she stated that the class could be really fun if you do the work right and if not, it’s sad…
Wheater, you like the school, or you hated it, we can all agree that it’s sad and gives you that feeling that us wildcats are entering our early adulthood and how it fears us or makes us worry, but that’s okay and you aren’t alone, especially for this year seniors that made it through, to the seniors here at Wheeler, remember that feeling when you first step at Wheeler, now imagine that when you are going to step to your adulthood and future, yes you’ll see difficult times to your path but always keep going no matter what, never give up, and always have faith in yourself.
We only have one month until the last day of school and graduation for our seniors here at Wheeler, always work hard, never give up and enjoy the final months until it’s over.
