Spring fashion changes yearly, but with all the general changes in fashion as of the later years with the youth, it has gotten even weirder. It has been strange, from jeans and bright-colored shirts and jackets to that shifting to all-time fashion and winter fashion becoming common all year round. Single-colored jumpsuits are in, while tie-dye has taken the fall in its place. Distressed clothing has become the most common clothing, from jeans, jorts, and even crop tops being distressed in the current fashion meta. Crop tops have made a return, even becoming popular amongst men. Jorts have returned after being clowned for years prior and have even become commonplace in outfits amongst the youth. The most common shoes have become either Knu Skool Vans, Maison Miharas, or varieties of New Balances, the most popular ones being the 9060, 2002r, and 550.
Typical colors for the recent spring seasons have been black, white, tan/cream, and lighter colors like baby blue, pink, and green. Forest green and specific camos and wood-patterned clothing have become more popular. Clothing brands are surfacing everywhere, and everyone is trying to be the next big brand. Y2K has been the theme for almost a year. The symbolization of Y2K has pushed other styles into the other ground, such as skater style and biker clothes. You can spot modern clothes quickly with stars and words such as motion. Specific colors, such as dark blue, light green, turquoise, and light grey, have taken a dive. The youth defines the modern style as the most common style, either for work attire or for blue-collar workers, with brands such as Carhartt taking the front line and thrifting rising in popularity. If that causes a problem, it is left up to interpretation. Another common sense of dressing is mixing designer brands, such as Purple, Chrome Hearts, Denim Tears, and Billionaire Boys Club. With the mixing of designers, it is 50/50 whether people agree with it as an actual style. The people who do it claim it works because it is expensive; others claim it does not look right. The work attire usually works on some builds of people. It works better on either middle range or more prominent people, as it consists of baggy clothes.
People with smaller frames still attempt, and sometimes succeed with, the blue-collar worker style of dress, but it works less often. Clothing for that style is Timberlands/boots in general, baggy blue jeans or any colored jeans that are not tight, and Carhartt or flannel-styled jackets. Thrift stores often hold these types of clothing, so thrifting has risen to the rise back amongst the youth. The mix of designers usually consists of tighter skinny jeans from brands like Ksubi, Purple, and Amiri, with jackets from Chrome Hearts, Denim Tears, or TikTok brands. Y2K brands have become extremely popular on TikTok.
Everyone has different thoughts on what looks good, but for general purposes, if you are looking for tips, go with what fits your body type. Larger frames and tighter clothes are usually a no-go unless they are being put under something else. Baggy clothes work less often on skinnier frames unless they are oversized; it is usually pants, so wear a belt! Box shirts and blank shirts have been expected under jackets recently. Bri’on Grimes (12) agrees that fashion is going in an odd direction. He feels like “the brighter colors and lighter clothes being year-round is definitely just weird.” Jack Pallas (12), said “he didn’t mind the changes, I’ll just get whatever I need from a thrift store.” Frank Kelley (11) said “fashion is odd, he doesn’t really feel the need to change his style over time.”
