Prom and Homecoming are two of the most exciting events many high school students look forward to attending. Wheeler High prom is on April 26th at Cobb Galleria at 7 pm. The theme is Midnight Garden. Even though some students feel themes aren’t important and would rather keep things simple, these dances are a special memory to hold on to.
The week leading up to these events is always filled with excitement. Everyone talks about what they would wear, prom dates, songs they hope to hear, and the day itself. Students spend much time shopping for the perfect dress or suit, getting their hair done, and making plans with friends. It’s a chance to dress up and feel fancy, even if students aren’t into dancing or the events themselves. Prom and Homecoming aren’t just about the dance; it’s about the moment and having fun. It’s one of the most fun parts of the experience, no matter how you enjoy it.
Prom themes can be something like “Midnight Garden” to “A Night Under the Moon,” but sometimes these themes can be hard to follow. Some people believe that themes bring excitement and creativity. However, others feel like they can create pressure and limit how students would like to express themselves.
Ms. Kuhn mentioned that she understands the pressure felt by the people who must develop the theme. They spend a lot of time making sure the theme works for everyone. The students and volunteers who decorate for prom also put in much effort. They work hard to ensure everything looks right and create the perfect event atmosphere.
Making school events more enjoyable for everyone comes down to the involved students. That’s one of the main reasons why prom and homecoming are student-led events. According to Mr. Coach Spann, when the theme is something students help with, they are most likely to attend.
Ms. Comstock also believes that student’s input is key when it comes to selecting the theme. The Junior Advisory Board usually brainstorm theme ideas and then vote to pick the best. The theme with the most votes wins. Prom and Homecoming should reflect what students care about and what they will make the night special.
Having a theme should be about making prom and homecoming more fun. The best way to choose a theme is by asking students what they want since they attend. Involving students makes the event feel more personal. Some years, a creative theme could make the event stand out more, while a more straightforward approach gives students a chance to dress based on their personality. No matter the choice, the main goal is to ensure everyone feels included and excited to be there. Whether they’re dressing up classy or just showing up to have a fantastic time. Prom and Homecoming are both dances made to make memories and have fun.
. No matter the choice, the main goal should always be to make sure everyone feels
included and excited to be there, whether they’re dressing up for a fancy theme or just showing up for a good time. Themes shouldn’t create unnecessary pressure, and students should always feel comfortable. After all, prom and homecoming are about making memories and having fun, not worrying about perfection.
