13 Ghost (2001);

One of the classic scary movies of all scary movies or that’s what everyone I’ve asked, is about the Kriticos family recently struck with a tragedy in which they end up losing their house and the mother of their household. Unknown to recently widowed Arthur Kriticos, he had an uncle, Cyrus, whose life work, which also became the end of him, was to enslave the 12 earthbound spirits of the black zodiac, and using them to power a machine that is said to go the eye of hell. The first look of the movie is super action packed with a hunt for the 12th ghost, which had me hooked into the film and I was hoping that the movie would keep up that energy, and at least show how the caught all of the other ghosts, but sadly that never happens. Another thing that was very disappointing was that all the spirit had super cool background stories that were never shown in the movie like at all. I feel like that would have filled in some of the gaps in the film about why this ghost was chosen to be a part of the machine. Overall it was a good quality movie for its time with a right amount of plot twist and jump scares to convince me not to turn it off.

The Cult of Chucky (2017);

As a continuation of one of my favorite childhood nightmares, Chucky returns to terrorize his human victim, Nica. Meanwhile, the killer doll has some scores to settle with his old enemies, with the help of his former wife. If you don’t remember or haven’t seen any of the previous movies, Nica was born paralyzed from the waist down but was still convicted of the murder of her whole family, and not charged due to a plea of insanity, claiming that a children’s doll did it and not her. After being institutionalized for a couple of years, Nica moved to a new institution where she receives a very unpleasant gift. Contrary to its name it has nothing to do with an actual cult dedicated to the murderous doll, it’s just that more toys that have Chucky’s spirit occupied within it, which was a little disappointing, because I was expecting a bunch of weird people praising this murderous doll. Also, the movie was more of a dark comedy than a horror movie, but it was still good. Even though it wasn’t what I was expecting, the plot twist and the comic aspects made it just as good as the older movies.

Nightmare on Elm Street (1984);

Several people are hunted down by a cruel serial killer who kills his victims in their dreams. While the survivors are trying to find the reason for being chosen, the murderer won’t lose any chance to kill them as soon as they fall asleep. I have a little bit of a bias towards this movie series because I love it so much and Freddie Krueger is also my top favorite horror movie murderer, okay probably not his backstory of being accused of molestation, which was never proved correct which is why he comes back. Anyways I always loved the way the movie tied the dream world with the real world, like the famous bathtub claw scene. Where one of the leading characters falls asleep in the tub and Freddie reaches his hand through her legs giving everyone watching anxiety every time, and last but not least the beautiful and handsome Johnny Depp in jersey crop top makes me melt every time. But besides my bias, reasons, why I think that it’s a good movie in general, is because it has the perfect mixture of both jumpscares and stays on track with the plot which keeps you into it. But I don’t think that there needed to be more than two movies because after the 2nd film the plot gets very confusing as to why he keeps coming back.
