Wheeler F1 Heads to Singapore

They met at Wheeler, and their passion brought them together. What started as a hobby can now take them far. Even to Singapore, where they will participate in the World’s F1 for schools competition, representing our country. The Wheeler’s F1 team has worked hard for a long time, and now their effort will be rewarded. But, who is on the team? What do they do? How were they chosen for the world’s competition?

The team is made of 5 members. Each of its members has a specific function. They’ve been friends for the past 3 years and started this team at the fall of 2017. Although each of them works in a different area, they all have a role that complements the team. Arul Gupta is the team manager and marketing director and so that entails managing our team’s various projects, finances, and bringing in the sufficient funds for the team. We also have Poojan Mehta who is the design engineer, so he is the person that designs the bulk for the car. Then we have Michael Jin who is the manufacturing engineer. His job consists on taking Poojan’s design and making it using a CNC Machine as well as getting 3D printed parts, all printed and prepared. Then we have Ayush Goyal who is the graphic designer and testing engineer. As a graphic designer, he develops the website and any flags they need for events as well as the pit display which is the trade booth. As a testing engineer, he takes the car designs and physical cars and puts them in a simulation so they can analyze results. Lastly, we have Shivham Patel, the research director. He allows us to gain awareness in the community and helps manage resources.

The team is going this Wednesday on the 5th of September to the World’s Formula 1 Competition that will be in Singapore. We have talked with them for a few hours before their trip, and they have explained to us all their trajectory to get to this competition. “We qualified for the competition after winning the national competition in June. There will be more than 50 teams from 23 different countries from all around the world, and we will be representing the US as one of two teams. We hope to do our best!” says Arul Gupta, team manager, and marketing director. For Wheeler High School, it is a great honor that some of our students represent our country. It is obvious that the students are doing a great job. We wish them to have a great trip and, of course, good luck!
