Wheeler high school drama club is taken place every Tuesday after school hosted by teacher, Mrs. Day. Anyone is welcome to attend drama club. Drama club is a place where you can be yourself and can be described as a fantastic all-around club to join. Club member Lindsey Snyder says,” Drama club is amazing; I love how so many people are involved, and I hope it continues to grow over the years.”

Drama club will be very involved this year as it is Mrs. Days first year with the club and with the school. She is directing the fall play “These Shining Lives” this year. The play is based on a true story in Ottawa, Illinois where women faced the danger of working in factories in the 1920’s. When asked why she chose this play, she responds with, ”I love the story of it. It was a hard decision to choose this one out of all, but I feel like more people should know about what happened.”

The play will be performed November 9,10,11 in the Wheeler theatre. Actor in the play, Ethan Jackson say,” It’s a must-see play. You can’t miss it.” The cast rehearses the play twice a week with Mrs. Day and the stage managers. Mrs. Days role is to direct the entire cast as well as get everything needed for the play. The stage manager’s role is making sure everything and everyone is in check for rehearsals and the play. They will also have to record what happens each day to have everything right before the grand performance. Stage manager Lindsey Snyder says,” I like being stage manager because I’m in charge of a lot of stuff.”

Wheeler drama club will have more plays and musicals in the spring semester so make sure you go and support your wildcat performers. Auditions are open to anyone if you would like to join a play or musical. Make sure to join the drama club for a fun and enjoyable time because you won’t regret it. Club member and actor Ethan Jackson says, “ Drama club is something I love and has helped me boost my self-esteem about hitting the stage.” So if you want to start your career somewhere, start at drama club.
