Homecoming Court!
Homecoming is an annual tradition in most American High schools, and is a celebration centered around one sport; in most cases football. Homecoming is comprised of three crucial factors; the game, the dance, and the court. Several girls are chosen by their classmates to represent their grade by dressing up and walking across the field during halftime. Being chosen is considered an honor, and while most of the girls on the court only get the reward of walking across the field, one girl from the senior class gets the recognition of Homecoming Queen.
The girls who were chosen to make up this year’s 2018-Wheeler Homecoming court all looked stunning, both on Friday night at the game as well as at the dance on Saturday. The freshman class was represented by; Brooke Gumpert, Mikayla Mitchler……. The sophomore court included……. The Juniors class was represented by; Naomi Chernowski, Makyah Dixon, Jadyn Shuck, and Thaynara Silva. Lastly, the Senior class which was made up of; Taylor Franklin, Kyler, Geraldine Duque, Daja Andrea, and Edith Ambriz.
Being crowned Homecoming Queen can be a huge deal to whoever is receiving that award, and this year that title went to Edith Ambriz. When asked how this moment felt she went on to say, “After my name was called and I heard all my friends cheering I was filled with so much happiness. It was so much fun being crowned and having that moment of spotlight. Definitely one of my favorite high school memories.” Being surrounded by all your cheering friends and even family is a moment that most will remember forever and is why the court is so important. Not only is it fun to cheer on your peers and recognize them, but as well as coming together as a school too. Congratulations to all the ladies who were apart of football Homecoming court this year!
