On November 30, the Wheeler Basketball program kicked off their conference season against the Campbell Spartans. The games included the Freshman Boys, Junior Varsity Girls and Boys and the Varsity Girls and Boys, teams.

Both JV Boys and Girls teams put forth their best effort. Unfortunately, both sides fell short of a win. The JV Boys made a run at the Spartans lead in the 4th quarter but weren’t able to pull through.

The Lady Cats put on a fantastic game to watch but sadly they fell short against the Lady Spartans. Some of the key players on this team are; Ashanti Smith, Hannah Kanyi, Jadah White, and Sanaa Dudley. They had a combined amount of points of over half the final score of 48. The team has some rebuilding to do after losing seniors Armani Smith and Yazz Wazeerud-Din. Although the team may be young, these girls have shown themselves to fight for every point.

The Wildcats went into this game with two big wins under their belt. This lead to their confidence is at an all-time high. Little did they know that Campbell would give them a run for their money. Campbell would hold onto the lead for the better part of the first half. The Wildcats came back out after halftime and thrived where Campbell could not. With the intense energy of the crowd, the Wildcats were able to take over the lead and hold onto it. With Roscoe Eastmond, Sam Hines and Malachi Rhodes leading the way in scoring, the team was able to pull out their first region win. They have continued their winning streak by going 4-0 in the region.
