Oscars Fashion

The 91st Annual Academy Awards, also known as the Oscars, kicked off on Sunday, February 14, 2019, and it’s the biggest night in Hollywood, and if there’s a time for best-dressed lists, it’s Oscars night. We were all blown away by all of the stars’ style on the Oscars Red Carpet. Pink seemed to be the color of the year with stars like Kacey Musgraves, Kiki Layne, Angela Bassett, Gemma Chan, and Jason Momoa, Linda Cardellini and many more, either sporting the springtime shade or wearing the color for Valentine’s day. Best actress nominees such as Glenn Close and Melissa McCarthy have perfected the art of the elegant cape. I think it’s safe to say that Billy Porter won the Oscars red carpet before it even began. Porter interviewed celebrities on the red carpet for ABC’s pre-show special, was one of the first people to arrive, and his dramatic look felt like a dare to everyone who would follow. He wore a “tuxedo gown” by the designer Christian Siriano. The top half of the outfit appeared like a traditional men’s tuxedo, in plush black velvet, with oversized satin lapels and the bottom half of the outfit also had an inky river of velvet, flared out into a massive bell skirt.
