Wonder Woman 1984 is the anticipated sequel to DC’s first female superhero movie, Wonder Woman (2017). The first movie set a high bar and was greatly acclaimed by the audience and critics. WW84 focuses on Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) who lives secretly among mortals, using her powers to perform heroic acts under the alias “Wonder Woman.” When a powerful artifact falls into the hands of a greedy businessman (Pedro Pascal) and the villain Cheetah (Kristen
Wiig), it’s up to Diana to stop them. If you loved the last movie and are hoping for similar explorative themes, unique action sequences, and reasonable suspension of disbelief, you may be disappointed. Though WW84 is not as satisfying as the prequel, Gal Gadot’s incredible performance makes it a fun experience. If you lower your expectations, the movie is worth the watch.
