Cat’s Meow: Mr. Hoskins

Mark Hoskins is the Head Band Director here at Wheeler High School. He has been teaching here for 19 years. Before coming to Wheeler, he taught at South Cobb High School for four years. Hoskins directs the Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, and the Jazz Band. Concert Band is the fundamental class composed of freshmen, where students become adjusted to a high school ensemble. Wind Ensemble is the top band of skilled players consisting of sophomores, juniors, and seniors. Most importantly, Hoskins is the Director of the Wildcat Pride Marching Band. He takes great pride in his musical knowledge and loves to watch other students grow their musical abilities. All of his band students love him, and they admire his outspokenness and constant advice. His analogy and continuous guidance have helped his students thrive in the classroom and the real world. He graduated from East Tennessee State University and is in constant demand as a clinician and conductor all across the nation. His main instrument is the trumpet, and he is known for performing with many jazz greats, such as Jon Faddis and Ernie Watts. Hoskins is now a brass adjudicator for the Drums Corps International (DCI).
