Wakanda Forever

Marvel announced Black Panther’s sequel as a second movie for the first Black Panther that came out on January 29th, 2018. The film was well received by the critics, as it was a perfect example of Afrofuturism and a well-done representation of the black community. The movie is supposed to come out on November 9th, 2022. The critics expect a lot from the film and the public. The movie is scheduled to premiere on October 26th, 2022. The movie takes place after the events of Avengers: Endgame. As art imitates life, the beloved actor Chadwick Boseman passed away in late 2020. The actor that gave life and visual representation to King T’Challa will not be replaced. The movie also follows King T’Challa’s death, as his mother, Queen Ramonda, heads Wakanda, which enters its next chapter and has to protect itself from other global powers.

Juliana Almeida (12) (Ana Rocha Costa)

“I have high expectations for this movie, as we Marvel fans have been waiting for it for the longest. I believe that the Marvel Universe will make a great comeback after Iron Man’s death”, said Juliana (12). When asked about the actor Chadwick Boseman, she answered, “They did a great job by trying to keep the actor’s legacy. Just like Iron Man and Black Widow, the actors gave visual representation to the character they played, and they will carry their legacy forever. It will probably be one of the best movies that came out after Endgame, and I am excited to see who is going to be the next Black Panther!”

Joao Victor (12) (Ana Rocha Costa)

On the other hand, João Victor (12) had different opinions about the character’s future. According to him, “I think that they would have paid more respect to Boseman if they kept his character alive, so it would allow his legacy to move on. Black Panther has died three times in the universe already, and I don’t believe this one should be definite”, he continued, “I personally think people are overhyping this movie, but we shall see how it is going to turn out.”

A lot of people seem to be pretty excited about the movie. All across the world, Marvel fans have been waiting for the sequel since 2018. The theaters will undoubtedly be packed, for expectations will most likely be met. The first movie surprised the public with its Afrofuturism, and they are sure the sequel will not disappoint.
