“Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers”

Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers

One of the most respected and known rappers that many upcoming rappers look up to has dropped a new project. With his new 5th studio album, Kendrick Lamar dropped “Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers” on May 13th, 2022. Kendrick highlights his insecurities and beliefs on his fifth album, with 18 tracks. Kendrick always talks about society and expresses what millions of people go through in the art. Being one of the most celebrated rappers for storytelling and style, Kendrick is one of the first – and only – rappers to win a Pulitzer Prize.

It has been five years since Kendrick dropped his last album. DAMN. It was a very well-received and well-played project by Kendrick. With Kendrick’s unique ideas, lyrics and sound, it’s impossible not to think that the rapper doesn’t have art in his veins. Mainly, people call him the G.O.A.T., which means Greatest Of All Time, which reaches a rapper the number one out there. With many sharing the main opinion, Kendrick’s popularity has increased.

“I loved how Kendrick opened the door for new upcoming artists,” says Nicolas Brooks (12). “Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers is a good album, but it isn’t something that I would add to my playlist since it talks more about his life and experiences,” he continues, “my favorite track from Kendrick is Rigamortus. But, from this album is United in Grief. That song goes hard.”

“Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers is an excellent album, but not his best,” states Emoni Love (11). “Kendrick is up there for being the GOAT of rap. I like his lyrics and storytelling, and I listen to it daily”, he continues, “My favorite track was Crown and Count Me Out.”

Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers is undoubtedly a fantastic album about Kendrick Lamar putting his heart and stories out so more people that go through the same could relate to it through a tremendous expression of art and music. After waiting for five years, the album is certainly something everyone has been waiting for. And, as expected, it met all critics’ and fans’ expectations. Being one of the GOATs of rap, Kendrick Lamar got the expectations on him right on the spot with Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers.
