Movie Review: Winnie The Pooh

Winnie the Pooh Turns Horror

Winnie the Pooh first appeared in 1966 in Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree. Since then, the beloved bear has been made into thousands of shows and cartoons. Thousands of shows follow Christopher Robin and his adventures with Pooh and his friends. The main characters are Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, Eeyore, Owl, Kanga, Roo, Rabbit, and Gopher. When asked who their favorite character was, they had to say this. Sadie Crowder (10) said she “hated all the characters, especially Piglet. While Alexis Mason (10) liked “Pooh’s tight shirt because of how it shows off his body. And my favorite would be Tigger, I even know the whole Tigger song.” Though if I had to pick I would say I liked Eeyore.” Although Winnie the Pooh is a favored children’s show, it is said tWinnie the Pooh: Walt Disney Pictures; Caption: Winnie the Pooh and friends hese characters are also representations of what different mental disorders could look like. For example, Pooh has ADD and an eating disorder, while Piglet resembles an anxiety disorder. Despite this, Winnie the Pooh is still a safe and light-hearted show for kids to enjoy and love. Of course, with Winnie the Pooh being popular as ever, Disney decided to make a live action rendition called Christopher Robin. Christopher Robin takes place in London, years later when Christopher is all grown up with a family. One day, Christopher receives a surprise visit from his old friend Winnie the Pooh. Throughout the movie, the two go on an adventure, looking for the rest of their friends. With the movie coming out in 2018, that was supposed to be the end of Winnie the Pooh era. Until the year of 2023, when on February 15, 2023, Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey came out. Director Rhys Waterfied expressed how he wanted to make a thriller version of A. A. Milne’s original Winnie the Pooh. Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey, follows the story of Pooh and Piglet. After being abandoned by Christopher Robin, the duo goes on a killing rampage, as they terrorize their once beloved friend and a group of girls at a remote house in the woods. Or course with such a bizarre idea, Rhys Waterfield said how he didn’t want to veer too far off into comedy, as he still wanted the movie to have its scary elimint. Obviously, there are a lot of mixed reactions when hearing about such of a movie. “Um, I think them making a horror movie is a very interesting idea,” says Jamya Lowrey (12). While all Roger Perez (10) had to say was, “ok, I guess.”Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey: Jagged Edge Productions, ITN Studios
