Wheeler Theater’s greatly anticipated production of “Descendants” was a huge success! The 2023 musical depicted the descendants of beloved Disney characters based on the 2015 Disney Channel original movie. Students have given the production stellar reviews. Sophomore Emma Mabry says, “It was everything I wanted and more. Luanna (Maleficent) and Alleyna (Cruella de Vil) really shined. I loved the costumes and headpieces.” Emma gave it a “4.5/5 stars,” and shared that it was her favorite play that she has seen at Wheeler so far. Senior Ella Brannen echoed these sentiments. “I was a huge fan of the movie when I was younger,” she says, “and the theater’s performance really captured the magic of the film.” Ella had a few friends in the show and shared how proud she was of them. “The cast put in huge amounts of effort, and it really shows. It is great to see how the actors have grown over the few shows I’ve watched them in. I think this is the best [show] yet.”
Drew Marshall (12) also gave the show a glowing review. “I liked the dancing and the sets. You could tell everyone worked really hard to make the show great– and it was! My favorite part was the end scene when everyone was singing and dancing.” Drew gave the show a perfect 5/5 stars. Overall, the production was spectacular according to viewers and the audience, who gave unanimous standing ovations at each show. Congrats to Wheeler Theater and Ms. Day on a great show!
