Joe Jonas in 2008, Lucas Till in 2009, Taylor Lautner in 2009, John Mayor from 2009 to 2010, Jake Gyllenhaal in 2010, Conor Kennedy in 2012, Harry Styles from 2012 to 2013, Calvin Harris from 2015 to 2016, Tom Hiddleston in 2016, and Joe Alwyn from 2016 to 2023. Taylor Swift has a bad reputation when it comes to dating. Most of the causes are due to rumors and how she has gone through many, and the relationship never lasted long. However, Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn are the longest-lasting couple, with seven years on them, recently breaking up this year. They are believed to have met at the MET Gala in 2016, a month after Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston’s breakup. Recently there have been rumors of a potential separation between the two. Taylor Swift’s life hasn’t been without rumors. Multiple rumors about her and her relationships have always been around. Rumors of potential relationships with Taylor have been with Adam Young, Eddie Redmayne, and even Zac Efron.

The rumors of the breakup started a couple of weeks ago because fans had noticed that Jow Alwyn hadn’t shown up to Swift’s performances. Other news sites like CNN 10 have said that a “Close friend of Taylor Swift” had told them the rumors were true, but it wasn’t until a couple of days later that Taylor Swift confirmed the rumors herself. The breakup was because Joe had struggled with Taylor’s spotlight, wanting to be more out of the public eye, and with Taylor’s popularity was difficult. Their personalities were too different, and they had grown apart. Taylor especially wanted to focus on her tour. Their breakup didn’t end on a sour note, however. Taylor Swift has said that she hopes the two of them can remain friends.

Fans are upset by this breakup and have mourned listening to the album Lover, which has risen in charts since the split. It was saddening because Joe Alwyn was Taylor’s inspiration for the album itself and the songs written in the album. Amanda (Sophmore) said, “I have listened to the album Lover, but not all of it; I thought it was pretty good. I did know that Joe Alwyn was the inspiration for the album. I did know that they’ve broken up, and I still think the album is good, and it stayed true to Taylor Swift’s emotions at the time, but I think I’ll be sad while listening to it for a while.” Samantha Harris (Senior) had to say, “I haven’t listened to the album, but I have listened to Taylor Swift, and Trouble was my favorite song as a kid and still is today. I didn’t know that Joe Alwyn was her inspiration, but I did hear about it a bit. I did hear about their breakup, and I feel like I’d pay more attention to the lyrics if I ever listened to the album Lover. I’d probably make a lot of assumptions.” “Yes, I’ve listened to the album. It was pretty good; Lover was my favorite song. I’ve heard about their breakup. I feel like Taylor was trying to tell us something was off in their relationship through her songs.” Lucy (Senior) stated. Kiara Speights (Junior) said, “I didn’t know about Joe Alwyn being the inspiration, and I didn’t hear about the breakup. I never had an opinion on their relationship, and I hope Taylor is not completely heartbroken from this.”

The breakup doesn’t hold anyone at fault, just personalities clashing with each other, and time had just happened. Taylor Swift is still busy on tour, and Joe Alwyn is focusing on his acting career. So this seven-year relationship has come to an end, but it gives these two time to figure things out within themselves and focus on careers and other things.
