Over the break, the Falcons caught not one but two devastating losses. Coming off two wins by less than a touchdown, securing two losses is to be expected. But both games were significant losses by at least two touchdowns.
@ Lions 6 – 20
Scoring only one touchdown in field goals is an issue. Bijan Robinson carrying the ball ten times to get 33 yards is horrid. The Lions were actively targeting only one receiver, and he still had almost double the receptions as the highest receiver on the Falcons. This game is a testament to how terrible the Falcons defense was. They were targeting, and we could not stop them. Stopping it should be easy if they have one play; we know they often go for it. Not for the Falcons; oh no, stopping an obvious play is easily the most challenging thing for us.
@ Jaguars 7 – 23
For the game against the Jaguars, it was somehow worse. Desmond Ridder is the king of interceptions. Having one touchdown and two interceptions is just pitiful. Robison performed much better, getting 105 yards across 14 carries, an average of 7.5 yards, which means the passing only had to produce 2.5 yards on average for a first down and could not. The Ridder sell train continues beyond there. Not only did he cause two turnovers via interceptions, but he also caused another one by fumble. The Jaguars quarterback recovered after he fumbled, meaning they did not turn the ball over, but Ridder could not. These two games were lost due to an inadequate quarterback and the run game falling apart at the seams. The Falcons’ offense always seems to need some form of fixing.
