The students and staff at Wheeler shared their thoughts on the game, most of them supporting the Eagles. Coach Womack said, “Loved it when the Eagles won.”
Josh Edu (11), who supported the chiefs, said, “[It was] bad. The offensive line was terrible…The receivers were nowhere to be found.” Jokingly, he stated, “It had a bad script.”
Lucas Kelley (11) had mixed feelings about the game: “It was pretty good but not as good as normal.”
“He did it for the culture” – Rodney Hester (11th) The LIX Half-time show headlined Kendrick Lamar, featuring SZA, Serena Williams, Mustard, and Samuel L. Jackson, who played Uncle Sam. Coach Womack enjoyed the “underlying messages” of the show, but Ms. McEvilly believed that “only a few people understood the message.” On the opposite end of the spectrum, Lucas Kelley (11) didn’t enjoy the show because he didn’t like Kendrick Lamar.
A thirty-second ad for the Superbowl costs about $8 Million, and most of the money spent on these ads was utterly wasted. Coach Womack said, “loved the ads, second best part other than the Eagles winning.”
