The end of the fourth quarter, score 23(Wildcats) to 45(Kell).

Wheeler High School’s football team took a hard loss this senior night with the score being 23-45. This was an emotional day for some of the seniors on the football team but they toughed it out and played to their fullest potential. They feel like they played well on the field and that they will try to get a win next time. During the game, some of our players got injured and had to sit out the rest of the game. This also puts a bigger burden on our players because losing star players put more stress on the team to get the win. Overall, they tried to maintain the score and play to their fullest potential but sadly, they lost.

Wheeler Football has had a rough couple of games but, they plan to turn it around this senior night! They are currently 1-4 in the league and 1-6 overall. Currently, they state that they are training hard and long to achieve this win this senior night. The Senior night is a night of different ways to support the senior’s accomplishments throughout the four years of getting them through high school. This is a way we honor the seniors and what they have inspired others as the highest class. This ceremony holds a lot of meaning to them as senior students, parents, and coaches.

Ana Andrade, senior cheerleader

“It shows recognition to all of the seniors on the field for all of the hard work they’ve put in. The senior year gives you more freedom and lets you prepare for real events in life and it also gives you a chance to be a leader. Our coach keeps us on track during practice and makes sure we know and memorize the cheer and band dances.” -Ana Andrade, 12th grade

“I think the senior night supports me as a senior by giving me recognition and motivating me to make my last cheer season a good one. I think the senior night will impact the rest of the year by giving me one of my last most enjoyable cheer moments before the season ends and setting the mood for the rest of senior year. The cheer “hustle” is a good cheer used to uplift the players because it tells them to hustle and focus on the game. My coach watches us practice cheers and makes sure our motions are sharp and correct. We’ve had a tough season and, I hope we win but, I’m not sure we will. No matter what, it will be a good game.” – Kristina Ivanov 12th grade

Amblessed Nzenwata, senior football player

“ I would say it is like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and, I feel like it just sums up my senior year of that sport. Of like that one specific moment, basically. So far, we have had a lot of issues, you know, I mean it just depends on us locking into our skills. I feel like our coaches are going to prepare us properly and accordingly and it is going to be up to us to execute. ” – Amblessed Nzenwata 12 grade

“I feel like we finna go crazy, “I feel like we finna go crazy, I feel like senior night this Friday needs some love! And also, it depends on how the crowd feels and how we respond. Coach does great like he does every week. We will just have to buy in and execute, and we gon do the best to our ability on Friday!” – Jonathan Irvin 12th grade

Honoring our seniors on their senior night seems like it will be a moment for all of them to remember. Supporting everything they do and respecting the marks they have left on Wheeler High School grounds! Even though we had a loss in this game, this was a way of honoring our seniors and letting them know how proud we are of them. With their accomplishments and hard work.
